Daphne at Dies to Die for

Happy Tuesday all! I'm here with my Tuesday inspiration post for Dies to Die for.  It's back to work for me today so this post is scheduled, but I only have today and tomorrow in work and then I have a few days off as I'm visiting my parents.  This does mean no more cards from me for a week and a half as I won't be crafting (though I will be colouring images while I'm away) but I'll try and get my Blog Candy sorted before I go.

Anyway on to my project for today.  It's a card using the adorable Daphne by the talented Artist Sylvia Zet, love her images. I paired her with a gorgeous papers from MME.  I've listed all the items used from the shop at the end of my post, with links to take you straight to them.

 I coloured Daphne up in Copics to match the papers, and cut an aperture in my paper with a Stax die to frame her. I inked all the edges with Walnut Stain distress ink and sewed them with top stitch thread.

 I added some glitter to her wings and doted her with some liquid pearls in white opal.

I added a lovely bow cut with a Die-namics die and used a piece of a Prima embellishment in the top corner. I added a bit more Prima bling to the bow and a couple of corners.

I used a co-ordinating sheet of paper from the same pad to decorate the inside of the card, and added some plain white card cut with one of the stax dies.

Ladybug Marci at La-La Lands Crafts

Good morning everyone! If you're in the UK I hope you're enjoying this holiday Monday. As it's Monday that means I'm here with my GDT post for La-La Land Crafts.

This week our theme is 'Fun Folds' and originally I was going to go with my old favourite the 'Magic' card, but I thought I'd challenge myself to something a little different and was toying with the idea of a Tri Shutter and a couple of others, but of course by the time I got around to making it, my teamies had those covered.  So I settled on a Gatefold Joyfold card, which as the name suggests is a mix of a gatefold and a joyfold card.

I used the following La-La Land Crafts products for my card.

This was a pretty difficult project to photograph so I took lots lol!

This is what the front of the card looks like. I coloured Marci with Derwent Inktense pencils and also a couple of their watercolour pencils for her skin and popped her up on some foam.

Skin:1800,& watercolour: 17, 18

Outfit:0520, 0530, 0600, 1230, 1300, 2100, 2120

Hair: 1710, 1720, 1900, 0520, 0530

I used some flowers and seam binding from The Ribbon Girls.  The bling is Prima Mini Swirls.

All the gorgeous papers used are from the same 6 x 6 pad by Authentique, this one is called Flourish, love the bright colours and the fact that there are solid papers to match the patterns.  I also used some Bazill  in Chablis

All the papers have been edged with DI in Pumice Stone and hand stitched with coloured top stitch thread...this took me soooo long lol.

Finally here's a side view of the layers when the card is closed.

Telephone Marci at La-La Land Crafts

Morning crafters!  It's Monday again, my goodness the weeks seem to whizz by and of course the weekends go even quicker don't they?  It was a hot and sticky weekend here, so I didn't get tons of crafting done, it was just too sticky, but luckily for me I made this card last week for a friend who was leaving our department (though she's still working in the hospital and will be just a corridor or so away from where my new office is, which is nice :)

Anyway....our theme at La-La Land this week is Twine/String, so we needed to incorporate twine or string somewhere on our project.  Now I'll say straight away that I don't use an awful lot of the stuff.  I have it in a few colours, but I'm really not very adventurous with it, and the same holds true for my card today lol!

Here's what I made

Now unfortunately I don't have many 'office' themed bits.  I did have these lovely Prima papers Stationer's Desk and so I went with an old fasioned office feel.  I used the Steampunk Border  and Corner could pass for typewriter parts, and I had some of these lovely Tim Holtz pen nibs in my stash.  I used one of the Stitched Tabs dies to create 'files' and sat Marci in a Postage Stamp frame.  I stamped one tab with a sentiment from LotV and for the other tab I cut her name with a Memory Box Alphabet die.

I coloured Marci with my Copics:

Hair: E11, E13, E15, E19, E08, E09

Oufit and Phone: R35, R46, R59, W9, W7, W5, W2, W0

The black lace, red polka dot ribbon and black button twine are from The Ribbon Girl as are the rolled roses. All other flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I also used a crochet lace with velvet ribbon trim

Everything is edged with Black Soot DI and I stitched my layers with Gutterman Top Stitch thread.

The inside I decorated to complement the front.

Sassy Princess Marci - La -La Land Crafts GDT

Happy Monday everyone! Here in the UK we are enjoying the May bank holiday, so no work for me today Yay!. Hope you're all having a great day too. 

I'd like to say a huge welcome to all my new followers, I hope you all find something you like here, and do please feel free to ask questions.

Before I get to the reason I'm here today I'd just like to announce that I've been asked to extend my original 2 months Guest Design Team spot at La-La Land Crafts, for another 3 months till the end of August!! I'm so excited and happy to stay on with this wonderful and FUN team for a little bit longer.

So this week the theme in La-La Land is 'For a Special Lady'. In America and Austrailia, Mother's Day is the 2nd Sunday in May, so I guess for some of the girls, this would be their special lady. But for me in the UK, Mother's Day is on Mothering Sunday, and so has already been and gone. So I figured that every lady is special in their own way, and we should all get to be a princess, at least in our own heads lol, so I made a princess card.

LLLC certaining doesn't have a shortage of princesses, there are 4 different ones to choose from!! I chose Sassy Princess Marci, isn't she a complete doll? I paired her up with this very ornate Memory Box Die, and then made it more decorative by the addition of a crown (obviously!) and a set of wings cut with LLLC dies from glitter card. The paper is by Inkido.

She's coloured with Copics:

I popped her out on foam and added some pearls and bling to her crown.

Some beautiful flowers from The Ribbon Girl and Wild Orchid Crafts and a very blingy crown nestling among them. The inside was decorated simply with a coordinating paper from the set.

Summer Fairy at Dies to Die for

Good morning and Happy Tuesday to you! I'm here with my Tuesday post for Dies to Die for.  If you popped in on me yesterday, my creation today is just about as different as you can get.  It's not very often that I use really bright colours, but these papers just cry out to be used and hey, she's called Summer Fairy after all. Besides, the last time I used her I coloured her in black & white with just a hint of pink, so it was nice to do her in colours this time.

The papers are a mix of 2 different MME pads, links to products can be found at the end of my post as always. The quality of these papers is lovely to work with.

I coloured her with Copics which are think are the best choice for bright colours and decided to get funky with her hair.  Her hair is absolutely wonderful to colour up, such fun!

Hair: BG10, BG11, BG23, BG57, BG18

Clothing: YR20, YR23, YR24

Wings: YR20, YR23, R11, R12, R20, BG 10, BG11, BG23

I didn't over embellish as the papers were bright and busy, just a few flowers and some MME brads in the corners. I finished off with a bow from a scrap of ribbon from my scraps box and popped a little Prima bling on the top. The sentiment is from Whimsy and is cut with a matching die. Lastly I added a flurry of tiny butterflies cut with a Memory Box die.

I decorated the inside as usual with papers to complement the front.

Steampunk Marci - Gothic Style at La-La Land

Goooood Morning everyone! A big welcome to my newest followers, thank you so much for joining me and I hope I continue to provide you with some inspiration from week to week.

Apologies for my absence this weekend, I would normally have been here on Sunday with my Totally Tilda post and hopping through your blogs leaving some love, but my lovely daughter was visiting from London this week as she was delivering some training in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool, so my free time was spent with her instead of crafting and I had a mad rush to catch up with makes this Sunday.

Anyway on to the reason I'm here today, and that's to share my inspiration post for La-La- Land Crafts, I'm soooooo enjoying my guest spot on their design team, this first month has been SO much fun, and lucky me I have another month to go!

The theme this week is Dies Galore, not a difficult one for me, I do love me a die or several!

Now I have to say that the photos are not the best, I love the way this looks in real life but it honestly does not photograph well, I tried different sorts of  lighting, positioning etc and this was the best I could manage , it's such a shame. Anyhoo, enough whining and let's get to sharing, poor as the colours are.

I decided to take a bit of a Gothic twist to Steampunk Marci here and used these fabulous papers from Prima, from a 6 x 6 pack called Cartographer, they were just perfect with the maps and hot air balloons and stuff.  I decided to go with the whole sepia and black colour scheme and just added some red for a pop of colour.  I've popped the links to items from stockists in the UK at the end of my post.

I wanted to keep the whole vintage sepia look going so coloured her up with my copics in Ws, using E30 for a sepia 'wash' and R59, 46 and 20, for some red accents to match in with the background. Unfortunately the colours are not really showing quite right in the photos, and Marci is looking a little green in the face, I wonder if she's airsick? lol

Obviously lots of dies for the theme, I used the following La-La Land Crafts dies:

I also used some smaller gears cut with a Cheery Lyn die, and some metal cogs from Hobby House.

This phot will give you a better idea of the layers, I thought this looked pretty good in a deep box frame and I'll be finding space for this on my wall somewhere. I've had these brads that look like screws for a long time now, but I cannot remember where I got them from, just that they're by Tim Holtz.

The sentiment is from a Steampunk Travels set by Whimsy Stamps. It's cut with a Whimsy slider die and I popped a couple of small rolled roses on either side to cover the slider holes.

For those of you wanting to make a framed picture like this, the frame is from Ikea and they also do it in white.  It has a glass front, I just took that out for the photograph to avoid the glare.
