MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge #342

Hello!

It's been a long time since I joined in with the sketch challenge over at MFT Card Challenges, so I thought I'd dash off a quick card using the new MFT Stamps Happy Hippos clear stamp set.

I used the hippo with the present and the 3 little birds, stamping them on some Bristol Smooth paper  and colouring them with my Zig Clean Color markers, using Turquoise Green, Yellow Green, Light Green and Bright Yellow. I cut them out with the matching dies and set them aside.

I made an A2 vertical top folding card base and used a little Sno Cone Ink and the Mini Cloud Edges stencil to sponge a few clouds directly onto my card base. I cut some Limelight and Gumball cardstock with one of the Grassy Edges die and finished the edges with a stitched rectangle die, stamping a sentiment from the same set onto the top layer before gluing them both to my card base.

I cut some while and patterned paper with one of the Basic Scalloped Edges dies and finished with the same stitched rectangle die, gluing both to the top of my card. Then I added the hippo and birds with some foam tape and finished with a few enamel dots. You could omit the dots as it doesn't really need them, I just felt they helped balance the card.

You're a Treasure

Hello!

I thought I would join in with this week's Sketch Challenge #338 from My Favorite Things.

I used the Party Like a Pirate set and coloured my images in bold colours with my Zig Clean Color Markers, then cut them out with the matching die-namics.

I used the Cloud Stencil to make the background and the card was cut with Blueprints 31 and Scalloped Frame Die-namics. The paper is the Country Fair Plaid paper pack from MFT.

I added a little bit of gold sparkle pen to my coins and the chest to give them a bit of a metallic sheen.

I've taken some artistic licence and adjusted some dimensions and placement etc., but the basic layout is the same.

Adorable Elephants - Happy Birthday

So I'm sneaking in, close to the wire, an entry for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge #332 over at MFT.

I have to admit here that I was very liberal with my interpretation of the sketch. The main elements are there but I've added bit and moved them a little. I used a circle rather than an oval, but if you draw a line in your mind's eye to encompass the balloons you get a longer and more oval shape. You have to step outside the box sometimes when using sketches, they can be more of a jump of point rather than a literal interpretation, (though that's fine too).

Anyhooo.....I used the Adorable Elephants stamp set again, and I coloured the elephant in pink......Razzle Berry pink to be exact. Yes that's right MFT Razzle Berry Premium Dye Ink, can you use those inks to watercolour your project like you do with distress inks? Why yes, yes you can, and very successfully too I might add.

Why is my elephant pink, I hear you ask? Well.....why not? 😊  I think he looks very cute in pink.

The pale pink is actually a Zig marker because I don't have a pale pink in my MFT inks....yet.

I Spy - MFT Sketch Challenge 329

I was inspired by the sketch from this week's MFT Sketch challenge and managed to find a bit of time to play along.

I recently bought the adorable Ninja-mazing stamp and die sets from MFT and I wanted to create a bit of an Japanese looking theme on the card to go with the set.

Stamping in black ink on red...check...but what to use? I decided that the Wavy Coloring Book Background Stamp would create the effect I was after. 

I turned the sketch horizontally and changed the size of some of the elements a little to make my card.

To create the little scene in the centre of my card I first made a mask with a circle centre and used MFT Red Hot premium die ink and my blender to make a sun and then stamped an image from the stamp set over the top with Onyx Black Versafine Ink and coloured in with a C7 Copic marker. I layered this on top of some vellum.

I stamped and coloured my Ninja, (don't faint but I coloured him with Copics, I dug them out, but I've given away several and didn't really have enough shades of grey for the black, so I had to make do with a C2 and a C& only lol),  and tucked him behind the layers when I glued them to the centre of the card. I cut a thin strip of black cardstock and then stamped and cut my sentiment and added that to my card. I finished with a little Shuriken.

Happy Birthday to Ewe

I didn't quite get time to join in with the MFT sketch challenge last week, so this week I'm making sure I get in early. So here's my interpretation of 

Sketch #324 

using the fantastic 

Birdie Brown 'Ewe are the Best' stamp set.

Most of you will know by know that I have a soft spot for a punny sentiment and you have several to choose with in this set as well as some great images. I coloured the little sheep with the party hat and ballon, with my zig clean colour pens.  I didn't buy the matching die set this time, but there is one available if you are not a fan of fussy cutting. I stamped him/her on my background too and coloured that in grey and cut the sheep and ballon out separately so that the string of the balloon is from the stamped image on the base card. I popped the sheep and ballon up on some foam tape and gave the hats a few white dots with a Posca marker and gave the ballon a coating of Wink of Stella.

So this is my take on the sketch, I mostly kept close to the original with a tweak here and there, adding another strip of patterned paper and using some sequins instead of the small banner and moving then to the other corner.

I created the background using a self made mask and my distress ink and blender. The colour I used was tumbled glass.

I stamped a sentiment from the set in black versafine ink and also MFT Razzle Berry dye ink.

MFT stamps Hog Heaven

I hope you're all having a great weekend. Mine is as usual much too short, I've gotten a little more work done on my guest room/craft room makeover, my new desk is up and I've done some more clearing and organising. So I can now move my colouring zone there, and hopefully the die-cutting area by next weekend, I'm slowing getting there and it's beginning to take shape.

So anyway I did get a little crafty time this weekend, I did a bit of work on some new release stuff for March and also I found some time to join in again with the Wednesday sketch challenge from MFT. If you want to see the original sketch you can find it here. It's not a difficult sketch to follow and this is my take on it.

I used the super cute Hog Heaven stamp set by MFT, stamped on Strathmore paper and coloured with distress ink markers and then fussy cut as I don't have the matching die-namics for these, but the Strathmore paper lends itself very well to fussy cutting as it's not so thick as my regular watercolour paper.

For my background I just used an offcut of cardstock that had been cut with a wavy border die and used that as my mask. For the sky I used Tumbled Glass distress ink and for the grass I used MFT Limelight Premium Dye ink, this blends really well.

I cut a piece of Deep Pink Lustre cardstock around a quarter of an inch smaller than my cardbase (which is a standard US A2 size), and adhered that to my cardbase. Then I trimmed my background a little smaller and adhered that on top.

I cut out a frame with the Stitched Rectangle Frames in a deep pink lustre cardstock and mounted that on a double layer of foam tape and then popped my pig and gate inside the frame with a little thinner foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment from the set on some vellum, with Veramark ink and used some pink embossing powder and heat set. Then I cut it out with a die from the Stitched Sentiment Strips

I popped the little basket of flowers in the corner of my frame and adhered the vellum behind so the the glue didn't show and I supported the strip on the other end with a tiny square of foam tape which I hid behind an enamel dot. A few more well placed enamel dots and my card is finished!

Well actually not quite, I did stamp another pig and the sentiment 'Ham it up on your birthday',

but I forgot to take a photo of that so I will have to add that later doh!
