Saturated Canary Patches in Red

A very quick post from me today, it's been a very busy work day for me today and I have tons to get done this evening, but I managed to finish up this card that I started last night.  The light was definitely going by the time I took these pics, so they're not the best.

I fancied having a go at the colour challenge at The Ribbon Girl this week which is Red.  I bought a sheet of double sided 12 x 12 paper from MME in the sale at Dies to Die for quite a while back, and I really wanted to use it on something as it also had a really nice sentiment on it.

However when I made the card up the image and the sentiment were just too big to fit on the front together, and while I toyed with the idea of putting the sentiment on the inside, I really wanted to make it part of the main design of the card.  So I cut the sentiment into sections, rolled them around a pokey tool to shape and then brushed them with Glossy Accents to give them stability and make them shine.

Papers were all distressed with a Tim Holtz tool and Walnut Stain DI with a little brush of red stickles on the edges of the DP.  I used some scraps of old First Edition papers to complement the MME one.   I used the red stickles on the wings too for sparkle, but I'm not keen on the effect tbh, I prefer my good old Glamour Dust lol.
The gold decorative pieces were cut with a Spellbinders accent die and then embossed with 2 coats of old gold embossing powder.

The image is Patches from Krista Smith at Saturated Canary, I chose her because I thought she'd go really well with the paper, well that and she's gorgeous so not much excuse needed lol I think she has a slightly circus look on this card with the banners and colour scheme, but maybe that's just me.
She's coloured in Copics as usual.

The inside has been decorated in keeping with the front.

A side view of the layers.  I was going to add some lovely red flowers to the card, but by the time I had the image and banners on, there just wasn't room without covering stuff up, so I left them off.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Saturated Canary - Winged Things
Stampin' for the Weekend - Butterflies
Craftin' Boutique - Anything Goes
Sketch N Stash - #119

Well that's it from me for this evening, it's getting darker earlier now which always seems to make the evenings seem shorter...still it's a long weekend to look forward to with the Bank Holiday and I found out today  that I still have 2 days holiday allowance to be taken before the 10th September so win!! :)

Enjoy your evening folks, I'll be back here later this week :) xx
