Tailor Tilda - Sewing Room at Totally Tilda

Happy Sunday everyone! I do hope you're not caught up in this awful weather if you're in the UK and that wherever you are you're enjoying the weekend.  I'm making the most of mine because I'm back to work on Monday....boo! lol

I'm here with my DT post for our new challenge at Totally Tilda and the challenge is 'Sewing Room'.

For this challenge you need to feature in some way at least one of the following on your work, Cotton reel,
Sewing machine, Mannequin / Dress form.

You can of course use more than one.

I used them all lol, and added a needle packet, pins, scissors and buttons to the mix, though I did stop short of adding the kitchen sink :P


I fancied a change from making a card, so to totally fit in with the theme, I made a little vintage sewing box to house all my coloured threads and needles. The papers I used are from Pion Design, these are sooo good for projects like this as they always do some kind of element sheet, that where the button card, needle packet and spool cotton card come from.
The dies are by La La Land Crafts and Memory Box, I added a little frantage to them for some texture


The drawer pulls open easily with the addition ob a little knob and as you can see it's quite roomy inside. I didn't follow a tutorial this time as I didn't want to get sucked into the web and be there for hours distracted lol, so I just kind of made it up as I went along and actually that was pretty fun.


I've coloured Tilda in Distress inks (don't worry I will still be using my beloved Copics, I'm just having fun practising with the distress ink colouring at the moment, so you'll probably see quite a few coloured with this medium for a bit). I used Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo for the skin, Antique linen and Walnut for the hair and Weathered Wood and Victorian Velvet for her clothes and material.


Here's a view of the underside, I used 4 more of those little knobs as feet, gluing them on with a hot glue gun this time as the screws would have interfered with the drawer opening.

On My Heart - Let's Get Sentimental at A Creative Romance

Happy Friday everyone, it's the end of the week, are you looking forward to the weekend?  I usually am, but I've been on holiday this week and the weekend means it's almost time to go back to work lol.  Sadly I didn't win the lottery while I was on holiday, so it's no idyllic whiling my days away in a designed to order craft room for me hehe.

I'd like to say a huge welcome to my newest followers, it's so lovely to have you with me and also big hugs to my loyal crew who've been with me a while, I haven't forgotten about the Candy I promised, it's just taking me longer than I thought to decide what I'm getting to put together my package, but I'm almost there, just need to order a few bits, so hopefully should be ready to go for next weekend.

Also I've started on my promised tutorials, the first one is live today with this card, you can access them (well 1 for now and more to come) via the Tutorial tab at the top of my blog here.  The one for today is for how I make my shaped cards as I've had quite a few questions lately about those :)

Anyhoo....enough of my waffle and on with my card, which is my DT card for the new challenge at A Creative Romance  and that's Let's Get Sentimental.  It's another easy one really, we just want to see a sentiment of some sort on your make.

My card today is actually my Valentine's card for the OH.  But it's Valentine's Day today, so perfectly safe to share....not that he looks at my blog anyway lol.......FB of course is a different matter.


Now I'll come right out with it, I suck at masculine cards, they're not my forte....however...Valentine's Day by it's very nature is romantic and not very stark adn masculine. I did try not to go too girly, I did not use a single flower! and although my card has some pink, it also has a lot of blue...and some metal...and some lace...sigh, I guess I fail. But even so, I don't think it looks overly feminine...and I like it :) I used Maja Design papers from the Vintage Autumn Basics collection, links to products used can be found at the end of my post.


The image is a Saturated Canary one by the wonderful Krista Smith, isn't she gorgeous? She's a digi called On My heart, I just loved colouring her, especially that hair!  I'ved tried distress inks to colour again, not perfect but I think I'm improving anyway. I used Tattered Rose and Vintage photo for her skin, Antique Linen and Tea Dye for her hair, Chipped Sapphire for her dress and a mixture of Worn Lipstick and Victorian Velvet for the heart.  I used a very little Shabby Pink Frantage around the edges of the oval frame.


The sentiment is from a Whimsy postage stamp sentiment set.  The key and lock are by Tim Holtz and were from my local Hobbycraft.  The edges of all papers have been distressed with Walnut Stain DI.


I've had this jeweled heart in my stash for ages, it was originally lilac, but I've shaded it with a Copic Pen in BV 29 to match my colours.

Audrey in Paris at Dies to Die for

Good morning world!  I'm on my hols this week and I'm loving it.  I had a lovely birthday and now I get to spend most of this week crafting away to my heart's content.  Anyway on with my inspirational make for Dies to Die for today, I was going to do another Valentine, as it's Valentine's week, but I thought the card I'm sharing today had a kind of Valentine feel about it even though it isn't a Valentine's card.

I made this card after a conversation with somebody who has become a regular buyer of my cards on Etsy. We discussed a birthday card for her sister, who, she said, loves Audrey Hepburn and Doris Day and adores Paris, pink was also mentioned.  So I've been playing around with a few things with that in mind and here is a kind of Prototype.


I've used Maja Design papers from the Crea Diem collection.  Links to products are as always at the end of the post.


The stamp is called 'Audrey loves her make-up', one of the Uptown Girls from Stamping Bella.  She also comes with a sentiment, which I didn't use here as it's quite large. I've coloured her with Copics:

Skin: E11, E00, E000, E0000, R20 for cheeks
Clothes: R81, R83, R85, W5, W3, W1, W0
I did add a little glitter to her too, but it is not showing up AT ALL on the photos :( 


The scrabble letters are from Whimsy, they also do a die to match, but I don't have that so I just hand cut them. The Eiffiel Tower is a La La Land's die. I've also used some Prima bling here.


You can see another LLL die here and the sentiment is from Whimsy, I wanted the matching die for this but it's currently out of stock so I'll have to wait for that one, the sentiment looks pretty good anyway, even cut by hand. As usual I've almost covered my lace, I really do need to do something about that. all other items are from my ever growing stash.
