It's a great event with loads of fun posts and prizes. Click on the banner above for details of how you can win a grand prize of

GRAND PRIZE $50 Whimsy Stamps Shopping Spree!!

We're almost to the witching hour, just 3 more days to go and today it's my turn to share something.
Now when you look at my 'Halloween' card, you'll see that it actually has a birthday sentiment on it. This is because in the UK we don't really send Halloween cards and our Halloween celebrations are really not so spectacular as over in the USA.
However, people DO have birthday's on or around the Halloween celebration, so this still counts as a Halloween card right?

I really wanted to give my card a fab spooky background, so I used my Distress Oxide inks to blend a moody night sky lit by the moon's glow, masking the moon and then colouring in later with a mix of Distress Oxide ink and a couple of grey toned Zig markers.

I coloured my vampire to coordinate with my background, with Zig markers and cut him out with the matching die. I die-cut the rest of my elements from black card stock, heat embossing my sentiment in white on top of my large gravestone and assembled my card.

I added a little ink and some Wink of Stella to some of my elements to give them a glow and sparkle, and added some dots of white pen and glitter pen to my sky to look like stars.

I mounted my panel onto a plain black card base and just like magic (black of course) my card was complete.

I've added all the Whimsy products used below, with links to the items.

  1. Love your Halloween/birthday card! Awesome coloring on the scene you created! The moon and sky are fabulous, and that Drac is so fun! Great card!

    1. What I do to celebrate Halloween... I love going downtown during the morning of Halloween to see the shops give out candy to the kids in costume! We don't get any trick-or-treaters since we live in a rural area, so it's fun to see the costumes!

  2. Awesome coloring on this fun card! This Dracula image is so adorable.
I don't celebrate Halloween any longer. We never get kids where I live so it kinda gets lost. And I am usually working, too. At work, we do pass out candy to all the dressed up kiddos. So fun to see them!

  3. wow you have out done your self with that gorgeous looking background - Love how you added the splatters and that moon is just amazing - very inspirational:

  4. For many years we had a drive-way party.
I'd make chili, spathetti (for chili-mac),
hot dogs, hot tamales, the first pumpkin
pie of the season. Invite friends and
family to eat and sit by the firepit in
the driveway to pass out candy and visit.
The kids don't come around anymore, too
many sanctioned events and we don't have
many kids in the area, so I've had to stop
having it. Last year was the first time
I didn't go anything and it was boring.
I'll give something to the grandkids
who visit next door and then hibernate.
Will miss it again. Love your dual
    birthday/Halloween card.
    thanks for sharing.

  5. Wonderful card usually carve pumpkins, eat pumpkins donuts and oh and ahh over all the cute trick or treaters

  6. WOWIE!!! this is so AMAZING... so love your background..
We sit out front and give out candy... love seeing all the little kids in costumes..

  7. Wonderful Halloween card. Love the image and background.
We do not celebrate Halloween with us, but with my daughters we anyway cut pumpkins and light candles in them.

  8. wow, amazing background!
now, when we have kids, we carve pumpkins and visit some places with halloween activities for kids.

  9. You did an amazing job with the colours and the light !

  10. Linda, this card is BRILLIANT! I just love your ink work, the way you've merged the colours, the gradient is so clever. Your moon is amazing!!! Brilliant 'tombstone sentiment' too. Such a clever and fabulous card. Hugs, Wends xoxo
