Good morning folks and a big welcome to my latest followers and a huge thank you to all the lovelies who have been leaving me such wonderful comments. It really brings a warm smile to my face when I read them, I can't tell you how much I appreciate them.
Well it's Friday and that can only mean another challenge at Crafty Catz. This week it's the awesome Nina's turn to choose and she chose.......Paper Piecing. Well, I can tell you I was not very happy when I saw this challenge. 'Why?' I hear you ask......well. I have a confession to make, I've never paper pieced before! I was pretty nervous about it I can tell you and to make matters more tricky we had some digital images to use from our sponsor DigiDarla Designs. Now I'm used to using digital stamps, but it just seems to me that paper piecing would be easier if you were stamping by hand (I still think it would be an easier way to use your scraps up), so I didn't think I'd be very happy with the result. But actually not only was it easier than I thought, I ended up getting really into this make and the card seemed to have a life of it's own.
Anyhoo....this is what I made.
Those gorgeous papers are Maja Design of course, the Fika collection. I stitched them with some green top stitch thread for a little contrast. I used a Joy Crafts Butterfly border die, from Dies to Die For.
The image is from our sponsor Digi Darla, you can get her here. What bits of her aren't paper pieced are coloured with Copics, I just accented her with some Liquid Pearls in Platinum.
The flowers and brad are from Wild Orchid Crafts, ribbon and lace from The Ribbon Girl, pins are from Live & Love Crafts and everything else is from stash.
I decorated the inside to complement the front.
Do pop over to the blog and check out the rest of the DT's creations, they really are fab and have a go at paper piecing yourself, it really is a lot of fun and much easier than you might think :)
I'll add this to some challenges later, as this post is scheduled because I'll be hard at work when this goes live, but I'll be back at the weekend to share another card with you.
Have fun!! :) xx
I'm entering this card for the following challenges:
