The Ribbon Girl - October Card Challenge

Hello!

It's time for another Ribbon Girls card challenge today. Don't forget you can enter with any design as long as it takes the form of a card. You can find details of the prizes at the end of this post.

As you know I don't make a whole lot of fancy cards lately, my style seems to have permanently drifted over to CAS in the main, but when I do I like to play around making cards without stamped and coloured images.

Today is no exception to that and I've used some beautiful papers, chipboard, flowers, beads and embellishments to create a pretty card that could be used for a wedding, engagement, anniversary or Valentine's day.

I distressed the edges of my papers with a blade, adhering and cut a frame from the pink paper using 2 circle dies. I glued my papers to my card base and popped the circle frame up with some foam tape.

I wanted my chipboard heart to stand out against my paper, so I sponged it with Distress Oxide ink in Worn Lipstick. These inks are great for colouring chipboard. I then sprayed it lightly with some Gold Glimmer Mist and left it to dry before gluing it inside my circle frame.

I made a triple bow with my pink ribbon and arranged that and a mixture of flowers, leaves, berries and sprays on my card, around my frame, gluing them all in place with my glue gun.

I finished with a mix of flat back pearls.

All items used (apart from Dies and Ink) are from The Ribbon Girl and are listed below with links to the items in the shop.

Ribbon Girl - 15 minute Christmas Cards

Hello!

When it comes to making Christmas cards it can be quite difficult creating batches of them that don't take you ages to make, but still are distinctly unique. Each of the 4 cards I'm showing today took 15 minutes or less to make and yet are completely individual.

To make my cards I used some simple rectangle dies, a Celebrate word die from MFT Stamps, some super cheap Christmas decorations I bought in a supermarket last year, some white and Kraft card for bases and the following items from The Ribbon Girl.

(This mini pack means you don't get tons more paper than you need, but more than enough to make a lot of cards, the designs are all gorgeous and at a bargain price!)

Rose Scent Tilda for The Ribbon Girl

Hello!
I'm here with a DT post for The Ribbon Girl.

It's been rather a long time since I coloured up a Tilda, I've almost forgotten how lol,
so I thought I'd have a play with Rose Scent Tilda.

I don't find red the easiest to colour with distress inks, if you aren't careful it looks pink and if you try and build too much depth it can bleed very easily as it's highly pigmented, but it didn't turn out bad today.

The papers are old ones from the Siri's Kitchen collection and I thought this kitchen tile design could easily give the impression of bathroom tiles which then tied in with my image.

I used lots of yummy embellishments from The Ribbon Girl and I've listed them below with links to take you directly to them in the shop.

6 mm Pearl and Diamante S/As

That's it for this morning but I'll have a little something to share with you later today.
Thanks for visiting!

Whimsy Stamps - Wee Stamps - Freesia

Hello!

Now I have some free time and the internet seems to be behaving a little better, I'm catching up on some makes from the last few weeks.

This post also serves as a reminder for The Ribbon Girl  April Use Any Image Challenge.

You can find the challenge here, and you still have a week to enter your project, you make any project as long as it has an image on it.

My card today uses Freesia, from the Whimsy Stamps, Wee Stamps collection.

This cute little bunny was released in March and although it was perfect for Easter makes, I think it works just as well for birthdays and other occasions. So a birthday card is what I made using a sentiment from the newly released Vintage Birthday Frames Sentiment collection from Whimsy Stamps.

I coloured my little bunny with my distress ink markers.

I also used the following items from The Ribbon Girl

That's all for today but I'll be back again tomorrow, have a great Sunday!

Floral Waves

Hello!

Well I'm finally here with you again. Combine a busy work schedule with coming down poorly and then my PC refusing to aknowledge my IP address and find the internet.....it's been a bit of a stressful week lol.

Because I wasn't able to access the internet yesterday until late, I missed my Spotlight Saturday, so that will have to wait until next week.

In the meantime I'm sharing with you a card that I almost lost....yes that's right, I thought I'd lost this.
After colouring her up and sharing a WIP on Instagram I tidied away while making the transition to my new craft room/guest room and then I could not find it anywhere.
But yesterday when I couldn't get on the net, I was organising stuff and voila! there was the card I'd started making. So I finished her off quickly so I could share her with you today.

As I lost this for quite a while, I can't remember exactly which markers I used, but these are most of them.

Skin:   Vintage Photo
Hair:  Seedless Preserves
Dress & Flowers:  Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry

Togetherness

Hello!

It's another wedding card from me today and I was going to go live with this in the morning, but I got involved in sorting out stuff ready for my big guest room/craft room makeover, and well time just whizzed by.

This is another no image card made with those gorgeous  Galeria papers. I have put the links below for you to find easily.

This was quite a simple card to make (no honestly!), a little diecutting, inking and distressing the edges of my papers and some gold ink on those lovely chipboard pieces from my stash was about all it took apart from the normal cutting and gluing.

I added a sprinkling of sequins to finish off.

That's all from me today, but I'll try and drop by again tomorrow with a quick share.

Celebrate Something

So apparently I'm getting old....must be as I made this card back at the end of autumn and completely missed posting it!

The papers are off cuts of Maja Design ones that I had sitting in a drawer and I thought I would use them up. I used a little embossing paste through a stencil then I coloured the  chipboard doily to match a bit of colour in the paper and chose my flowers and seam binding to match those colours also.
I added a stamped sentiment from the Big Balloon Celebrations clear stamp set and cut it out with the matching die from the Big Balloon Celebrations die set, both from Whimsy Stamps and available in the UK from Dies to Die for. I added some die cut leaves cut from the same papers and finished with a little twine and some flat back pearls.

From The Ribbon Girl
Cheesecloth
Peach Seam Binding
Burgundy Cherry Blossoms
11 mm Ivory FB Pearls
8 mm Ivory FB Pearls
6 mm Ivory FB Pearls

Everything else is from my stash.

Have a great Friday and thanks for visiting.

Mama Elephant - Polar Pals

Hello!

I've been super busy at work recently, but I've still managed to get some Christmas crafting done in my down time.....quite a lot of cards actually. How you ask? Well I bought a Mama Elephant Polar Pals Stamp Set and matching dies, and proceeded to see how many different CAS cards I could knock out with them. I surprised even myself.

Now these are all super quickly made cards, no do not expect my colouring to be perfect, it's not it was quick, but it will serve to show that you don't need fabulous colouring skills to make great cards, you can colour some things up simply and very quickly and still be pleased with your end result.

So...enough yap, I have 2 cards to share with you today, I made them very similar, using the same basic layout and elements and just changed up which snowman stamp I used and the accent colour and sentiment, but the rest is more or less the same making the 2nd one even faster to make.

You  could make a whole batch of these with different accent colours and sentiments etc and they would all still be individual.

I used Wink of Stella on both the snow bank and the snowmen and pole, which gives them a lovely frosty sparkle, but sadly as usual I could not seem to pick it up on camera, but it does look so lovely in the flesh.

Items used

Plain White Cardstock
Distress Ink Markers
Memento Inks
Wink of Stella Clear Pen

With a little extra work these would also make great shaker cards.

That's all from me today but I'll be back tomorrow with my card for The Ribbon Girls final challenge for 2016 (and no it's not CAS!)

Have a great Saturday!

Tiddly Inks - Molly Shares

Happy Sunday! I hope you're all enjoying a good weekend.

I've been quite industrious and even got a couple of cards made, go me!

We have a new challenge over at The Ribbon Girl today and as usual for the 2nd challenge of the month it's an
Anything Goes with an Image
challenge.

I thought I'd have a break from Christmas cards for a bit before I'm sick of the sight of them, although I do have a couple left to share.

This is one of Tiddly Inks 'Mollys', I really do love this range of images from TI.
I coloured her with my distress ink markers, I'm actually going to have to replace a couple of markers soon, because they're running short of ink, but as I've had most of them for around 2 years or more now, I don't think that's too bad! This is in my favoured shabby chic style, with plently of softness from cheesecloth and gesso.

Anyway this little cutie is called Molly Shares. I tried a bit of a different hair colour this time, and used Ground Espresso. I've listed the colours used below.

Distress Colours:
Vintage Photo, Ground Espresso, Shaded Lilac, Pine Needles, Bundled Sage, Dusty Concord.

I've just realised that I forgot to add the shading to the rose on her headband when I did the ones in the pot!

I used the following items from The Ribbon Girl. I actually mostly used 12 x 12 papers, but the 6 x 6 versions would work equally well.

Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics
6 mm Ivory FB Pearls

I do hope you can join in with our challenge, you have the chance to win one of the following lovely prizes:

First prize:  £10 voucher for Lili of the Valley

Second prize:  £10 voucher for The Ribbon Girl

Third Prize from Marianne Designs

and don't forget to check out all the rest of the gorgeous makes from the rest of my fab teamates over on the blog!

Bye for now,

Wee Stamps Heidi - Christmas in July

It's no use, I can't put it off any longer, I need to start making the dreaded Christmas cards. Otherwise I'll be pulling out my hair come December....and I have a lot of hair...it could take quite some time and then I'd not get any cards made!

So it's probably fortunate that the latest theme over at Deep Ocean Challenge is
'Christmas in July'

I decided though that I still couldn't face full on traditional Christmas, so I opted for a little Winter Christmas scene with a twist.

This is Heidi, isn't she scrummy?  She's one of the Wee Stamps collection by the wonderful Sylvia Zet as you probably guessed. She's an older stamp but still available.

If you read Whimsy Stamp's magazine then you may have seen this card already as it was featured there, funnily enough also as a Christmas in July project!

I've coloured her with my Distress Markers but this time I tried something a little different. If you are  a long time follower you will have  seen me do a B & W colouring with just a pop of colour accent from time to time, but sometimes B & W just doesn't go so well with your paper colour choice. This was the case with this card, I knew I wanted to use these gorgeous papers from Galeria Paperiu, and the blue was perfect for the accent colour, but B & W just didn't seem to look right with the neutral papers. Then I had a light bulb moment....what if instead of B & W I did Sepia? So I gave it a try and what I ended up with looked so beautifully vintage that I totally went with that look for my card.

Techniques used on my card:

Monochrome Distress Ink Colouring
Layering Die Cuts
Fussy Cutting
Distressing

Products used

Galeria Papieru - Snow Queen 12 x 12 papers
Cheesecloth
Ivory White Magnolia Flower
30 mm Ivory Wild Roses
Apple Blossom Mixed Pastels
Ivory Sugar Sprinkle Ribbon
5 mm FB Clear Gems

I do hope you can join in with us.

That's all from me today, but I'll be back tomorrow with my first make for the July release from Whimsy Stamps.

Happy Crafting!

Viola

Hi everyone. I have another vintage style card to share with you today. this one is made with papers from the Pion Design, Linnaeus Botanical Journal Collection.

I inked and distressed my papers before layering them and adding lots of lovely embellishments from The Ribbon Girl

I inked the chipboard frame and then cut and pieced it behind my resin frame, love that they are so versatile like this.

The resin frame is actually painted with gesso and then rubbed with a little distress ink added with the tip of my finger, just to age it slightly.

A Breath of Summer

Afternoon all, I'm runing so late this week...what a week it's been, but being the kind of week it's been, I don't have the time to tell you about it!

Anyway, we have a new theme over at Deep Ocean Challenge Blog and it's

Metal or Wood.

I must admit that I've cheesed this one slightly. because I've actually used chipboard and not wood, but it looks like wood so shhhhh.

I had a play with gesso, stencils, embossing paste and all sorts on this card, it was such fun.

One of Kay Fatuala's beautiful butterflies was the perfect finishing touch for this card.

We're sponsored by
