Whimsy Stamps - Christmas Snowflakes

Hello!! It's time for the September Whimsy Stamps release and my goodness do we have some lushness to share with you, just don't blame me if your purses are a little lighter by the end of this week....just saying.....

Today is a very unusual card from me....well unusual for me that is in that not only is this card pretty CAS, but it also doesn't have an image. Here I've just used cardstock, papers, dies and an enamel dot....I know shocking right?!

But I have been looking for a way to make some, I won't say mass produced but at least something I can maybe make subtle changes to but still stick to a design that I can produce quickly, to make Christmas cards. I found a lot of cards on Pinterest that have stirred my creativity and I'll have several snowflake themed cards just using dies a sentiment and not much else in the coming weeks.

For today's card I used the fabulous Snowflakes Dies, the Winter Wishes 6 x 6 pad and the Winter Wishes Glittery Enamel Dots.

I also used a sentiment from an older stamp set called Simple Holidays, sadly this is sold out currently.
I really enjoyed making this and will be making a whole range of different cards using dies and sentiments with no images, so look out for those in weeks to come.

I'll be back tomorrow with more goodies from the release.

Don't forget about my giveaway here, you have until 4th October to enter.

Friendship is the Greatest Gift at Dies to Die for

Morning folks, it's a super quick one from me as I'm running late and scheduling this quick before getting to bed.

I'm not quite sure if I like this or not yet, the jury is still out on this one, I was suffering terribly with my asthma today (yesterday when this goes live) and really had no mojo at all, but I really wanted to use these lovely non traditional colours Xmas papers from Whimsy and now I've photographed them the colours of the papers are not showing well at all! What looks in the pics like a soft beige/nude is actually a lovely pink *sigh*.

Love this image by Sylvia Zet, all her stamps for Whimsy are soooooooooooo cute!  I coloured this pair in my Inktense pencils to match the colours of the paper (even if the colours of the paper aren't showing too well in the pics).

I distressed the paper edges and inked them with Walnut Stain distress ink. I used some Bazill Kraft to mount my layers and for the sentiment and snowflakes, for a little contrast to the brights. The sentiment is from an Impression Obsession set. This set is so useful, it has a sentiment for almost every occasion!

Love this parrot green ruffled ribbon (sadly I think Tracy is out of stock of this now) it matched perfectly with a length of ribbon I had left in my stash

Charmings at Dies to Die for

Happy Tuesday folks!  I'm back to day with my inspiration post for Dies to Die for and this time I have a different colouring medium to show you.

On Saturday 10th May I went to Lili of the Valley's Birthday Party, and amongst the people demoing there was Dena, from Dena's Stamping Corner and she was showing how she used Inktense pencils.  Now I've used watercolour pencils before...well a loooong time ago now, before i even started crafting, when I used to do art lol, but these babies are different.  Because they aren't watercolour paint, they're ink...and you might think, well how do they differ from distress ink, well for one while they are ink and do turn from pencil to ink by adding water...they aren't exactly a watercolour ink.

What this means is that when they dry, they're permanent, if you wet them again they stay put. Also while they're delicate and translucent, just like distress ink, they have the most beautiful bright and luminous colours, very intense  colours and hence the name.

Anyway, I've been having a bit of a play with them and coloured up this Saturated Canary stamp by Little Darlings Rubber Stamps.  This stamp was actually a present from my DT chum Jenny for my birthday, but Tracy stocks her in the store, she's called Charmings.  I've added links to items used at the end of my post, but because Inlinkz want's to charge me a fortune to carry on using them, they're just standard links now, no pretty pictures sorry.

I don't think she came out half bad!
Skin: Baked Earth, Carmine Pink
Hair: Violet
Clothes: Violet, Antique White, Hooker's Green, Thistle

I paired her up with these gorgeous Whimsy papers I've had in my drawer for some time, just waiting for the right card to use them on.

I used a lovely Whimsy sentiment and die that I thought went perfectly on this card and I finished it off with a little Prima bling.  The lace and daisies are from The Ribbon Girl.

Most of the flowers here are Wild Orchid Craft and of course I've stitched all my papers with top stitch thread.  I inked the edges with Distress Ink in dusty concord.

The fabulous butterfly is handmade by a talented lady called Karla and bought from her little Etsy shop, https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/KarlasKreativeKorner I thought it set these papers off really well.

Finally I decorated the inside of the card with some more papers from the pack to complement the front.

Well that's all from me today, I'll be back again on Sunday with my Totally Tilda post, but I'll pop in before that with a little Candy post.  In the meantime, why not try something new?
Have fun! : ) x x
