New Camera Shots

I've been having a play with my new camera today (it's a bit too hot for me to sit outside, I'll sit out there with a long cold drink once the sun is less fierce, there's no shade in my garden), and thought I'd post a few shots.  Just getting used to it and I don't have a light box or anything set up (another thing on my 'to do' list, which is getting longer by the minute lol), but I don't think they came out too badly.

These are just a few simple cards I made a while back

This was my first attempt at a pocket or criss cross card, simple but pretty, I'd probably do it different on my next attempt but I still think it looks sweet.

The papers are J'Adore by First Edition.  I made the little flowers with a couple of daisy punches from Hobbycraft, I can't remember what make they are.
The image which is sooo sweet and one of my favourites is one of Krista Smith's digis from Saturated Canary called Nevaeh, isn't she lovely?  I coloured her with Promarkers and didn't have a Copic to my name at the time. The card is simply accented with glamour dust and a few self adhesive pearls.

Another simple card, papers are Rose Garden from First Edition and I just went with a simple red and cream to match.
I must admit I'm not very happy with my colouring efforts here lol.  I have changed my cardstock since then, (and over time have been changing my markers) I think the new one works much better with markers.  The image is a digi by Syvia Zet from Wee Stamps called Sweet Blossom, coloured with promarkers.  She's accented with pearls and liquid pearls.  The little sleeping bear is just too cute.
The inside is stamped with a butterfly stamp I bought when I first started making cards last year, I don't have a clue who made it, I stamped with Distress Ink in Antique Linen and used that on the edges of the card and die.
The die is a Tim Holtz On the Edge die by Sizzix called Butterflight.

I have another couple of older cards I photographed which I'll share with you in another post.

If you visit, please do leave me a comment and I'll drop by and visit your blog in return, and if you're in the UK, enjoy the weather, who knows how long it will last!!

Have fun!

New Markers!

Tonight I came home to 2 parcels waiting for me, seems both sets of goodies I'd ordered arrived at the same time.  I was like a kid in a sweet shop opening some pretty new papers, a new die, 2 Magnolia stamps (I've already coloured one up lol, couldn't resist!) and 23 new Copic markers!! :D

I was sooo excited (read big kid haha).  Had to try them out right away and it's so lovely to be able to colour with them and not have to mix them with my old Promarkers.  Don't get me wrong the Promarkers are very nice in their own way and I've seen some fab colouring in by people who can use them well, I just don't think I'm one of them.  For me they're fine for flat colouring or simple shading, but for serious shading the Copics win hands down, you can't beat that brush nib, plus they just feel really nice to hold and use.

I compromised and bought the Ciao markers in the main only taking Sketch ones where the colour wasn't available in the Ciao.  I do by far prefer the feel of the Sketch and the way they don't roll etc, but when buying a loot of markers price has to be a factor, so I'll be topping up my collection with a mixture of Ciao and Sketch and then replace the individual Ciaos with Sketch markers when they run out.  This way I get more colours to use.

Right then, I'm off for more playing with my new toys.....err stuff.  I have several cards to make for people that I've been asked for.  A Bon Voyage card for someone taking a year out t travel, a new baby card and a card for someone at work who's leaving for pastures new, so I'm going to be a busy bee for the next couple of weeks but I'll post some more cards at the weekend when I have more time.  Friday tomorrow...woohoo!

Take care xxx

Hot & Humid

It's been another scorcher here in the UK (yes I'm English, we talk about the weather old bean) I think this week is going to be our summer.  I'm not complaining mind, it's nice to see some sun for a change, I just wish I didn't have to go to work in it, our building is positively sweltering and this heavy humidity is playing havoc with my asthma.  I am enjoying the lighter evenings though, it does make the day seem longer.

Well I indulged myself in a new camera this evening after work, since I'm not getting a proper holiday this year I figure I deserve something....that's what i'm telling myself anyway lol.

Will probably be the weekend before I get the chance to play with it properly, so in the meantime here's another card taken on the other half's camera phone at the weekend.

The image is Hazel & Nutty from Sugar Nellie  isn't it sweet? I love the little squirrel.

Ribbon is from stash, papers are Rose Garden from First Edition and flowers and pins are from WOC and The Ribbon Girl  I inked the papers with Antique Linen Tom Holtz distress ink.

I'm entering this for The Sugar Bowl Challenge #105 - Anything Goes

I hope you all enjoy your evening whereever you are, and try not to melt if you're in the UK :D xx
